Why exactly do people give you unsolicited advice and expect you to conform to it easily?

Like why and how?

Yesterday…

Someone came into my DM unsolicited..

(Emphasis on the unsolicited)

She told me…

Personally, I don’t like your tone and use of language in your emails..

When I saw this..

I got serious..

This is someone reading my mail and I have to be on my best behavior..

I asked her what she meant by that..

Do they sound insulting?

Do they sound vulgar?

Or what exactly she doesn’t like?

She said…

Your emails are sarcastic and vulgar. 

You write almost like Throsell, but this is Africa. 

While incorporating western patterns one must understand his audience from an economic and cultural stand point.

This is my opinion.

And I wanted to actually take her serious because I love feedbacks..

But what she said floored me..

I just had to hiss and continue whatsoever I was doing..

I just wasted like 10 mins of my time talking to someone that’s lecturing me on African culture and economic standpoint..

You see..

This is one reason a lot of business owners don’t grow..

In fact, they hinder their growth while conforming to norms and cultural standpoint of Africa.

What happened to being different?

Or what happened to standing out as a brand that gives western enjoyment in Africa?

Sad..

And let me counter her here..

Don’t worry, she already unsubscribed because like she said..

My reply to her observation was trash..

Which I took my L because I was pained..

But nevertheless, here are reasons I hissed…

1. My emails are raw.

I write just the way I talk..

If I have ever spoken to you on phone or you ever watched my videos..

You will observe this very well..

And in lieu of that, there’s really nothing to change unless I wanna change my personality. 

2. I am not adopting any style..

I just write the way it comes.. 

In fact, my emails doesn’t really follow a pattern..

Unless the part that I make sure I gain your attention and lead you into the copy quite alright. 

Apart from that, no style adoption..

Just me writing my mails the way the Holy spirit is ministering to me.

3. I already said it from the beginning..

From the opt-in page to the welcome email and even subsequent emails..

If you actually don’t like my tone of language (which doesn’t work in the African setting)

Just unsubscribe and save yourself the headache of receiving what you don’t like…

And save me the stress of wasting my money on you.

Yes, I pay my email marketing platform every month..

Nothing short of 12k every month.

And the more the list grow, the more I pay money.

So unsubscribe and don’t stress me.

And with this email..

I know I have annoyed some people..

I hope some people are not you.

And you are not some people..

Well, it doesn’t matter. 

It’s just a rant I need to let out.

And thanks for listening to the rant.
