Someone confronted me yesterday

Dolapo

Dolapo

I sent an email very late yesterday around 10:30 pm.

I don’t know if you get the email or not.

But I am not here to address that.

I am here to talk about something very amusing because that yesterday

Someone confronted me (not in a bad way) that why didn’t I just wait till today?

Why did I send it so late when I will still send another one by 10 am today?

And I laughed because I understand this person’s concern.

In fact, I appreciate this person so much to even look out for me.

But the reason I did that was simple.

If you remember some days back (maybe a week ago or so)

I missed a day in sending an email.

I didn’t send an email that day and that’s a big dent on my growth and consistency.

I am not a perfectionist and I don’t care about that.

I only care about my growth and consistency.

I have been sending emails daily since January 1st.

I have only missed maybe 2 to 5 days and those were extreme cases.

Cases that I couldn’t touch my phone in a day or thereabout.

So they were not intentional.

But if I had missed yesterday’s email, it would have been intentional because:

1. My exam was 12noon and I was busy reading when I could have scheduled the email in between

2. I got back home around 4 pm which gives me ample time to sit down and write an email

3. I was trying to justify a block head that’s making me not write at all.

And if you notice these 3 reasons, they have one particular thing in common.

Excuse!!!

They were all excuses.

Before the exam, after the exam, the blank head were all excuses

And Nah Nah.

I am not being hard on myself or anything.

And damn, I cut myself some slack every damn time.

But if we are talking about growth and consistency, a lot of things will come in disguise to help you justify your excuses.

And if you keep allowing them, you will just keep working without seeing tangible results.

It’s that simple.

I was very consistent when I had just 35 people on my email list.

I didn’t let that deter me or pull me down.

I kept sending them emails and some don’t even open.

But as I said, I kept doing it over and over again.

Until they started telling their friends about their emails.

Meanwhile, I was doing two things then.

1. I was honing my skill by writing every day (I am selfish and I know)

2. I am building my audience base with trusted people

So now that the people that trust me to read my emails are now in the thousands zone…

I will now keep going on and off?

No, please.

Even though I planned to take a break very soon.

Maybe one month break or two weeks.

But till then, I hope not to miss any newsletter ever again.

And I really appreciate the person that brought the issue up.

You earned yourself a special place in my heart.

That said.

What’s up?

How’s the weekend going to be?

Gist me now.

Anything you think I should know?

I am listening.
