I just wanna tell you a simple story embedded with lessons (you take it or not)…

But before then, 

As a service provider,

Don’t ever make the mistake of taking a job you can’t do..

And as a business owner..

Never make the promise of what your product can’t do..

And why am I telling you this goddamn thing on a Valentine morning?

I am telling you because I almost took a job i can never deliver on..

And this was what happened:

Around 2 to 3 days ago…

I was on my way to get my laptop (you should remember)..

So I was like 80% broke..

And while on the way, I got a call from one of my people on whatsapp..

I normally don’t accept calls from whatsapp people on my line..

But the way he started got me hooked…

He was like…

Boss, this is so so person..

I have a job for you… (me that I am broke, my ear stood up in anticipation)..

I said tell me more about it..

He said the pay alone is 150k when converted to Naira… (i just smiled that this is small but still a nice one)..

He’s a foreign client and you are to write a litepaper..

I said okay, I am taking the job.. (as per broke ass nigga)..

I went to Google as per I don’t even know what a litepaper is..

And I got to realize It’s the summary version of a whitepaper that details the journey of a crypto company…

I was like….

Damn, I can do this..

So he sent me the man’s contact and we got talking on Telegram..

The man said he wanted a nice formatting,  a schematic diagram,  etc..

I went to check Google for definition and still kept on saying I will do it…

(omo, sometimes motivation can’t just cut through it)…

So he said I should send a sample of my job.. (na where the trouble start be that)…

I had to tell him..

See man, I have never done this before but I write good contents and copies…

He said I should send samples of those..

And I did..

But unfortunately,  baba said..

This isn’t what I want you to do even though your copy is really good…

But I want you to do formatting and scheme designs and bla bla I can’t even remember..

And me as a gentle person, I politely turned down the job easily.. 

Because I know there will be troubles along the way…

Why?

I don’t have experience in that field at all and with that… I know there will be real troubles…

There will be fuckups and my name can be dragged in the mud..

And this is what you want to always avoid like me..

My face is not out there.. 

But my name is out there and it worths more than everything to me..

Okay okay..

Dolapo, after all your bla bla talk… How exactly does this affect me?

Wait what?

Seriously??

You haven’t learnt anything?

You don’t know you should always promise on what you can deliver?

You don’t know you should always take job that you are capable of doing?

Seriously?

I am pissed at you guy…

But then, I hope you pick the little lessons along the way..

If not, read the story again and I can bet you will get more than 5 lessons…

And that’s exactly why you are bloody single..
